After the most wonderful night, Mia was slightly nervous to go back to the cabin with Hudson… not because of what might happen when she was there with him, but because she was worried about meeting his grandmother. Suddenly, she felt the pressure of having to be good enough in her eyes, and it was making her palms sweat.

“Will she not think it’s inappropriate… me coming home with you?” she asked nervously.

“Of course she won’t,” Hudson laughed. “It’s not as if you’re not in the house every day anyway. Plus, I have a spare room set up…” He looked across at her and gave her a cheeky grin.

“Well, then, I suppose I’ll be sleeping in there… if I stay, that is…” She smiled too as she looked out at the night sky. She could feel his eyes on her, and she loved the feeling. It was amazing to know a man with so much power throbbing away under his skin was lusting after her, and she couldn’t help but lust for him too. He was far too sexy for his own good.

When they opened the door back at the cabin, Mia gave herself a little internal pep talk.

Come on, there is nothing to be nervous about. His grandmother is probably happy he’s met someone…

They stepped into the main living area and a little old lady with a shock of grey hair came hobbling over to her and wrapped her arms around her, hugging her tight.

“Mia!” she said as she stood back and smiled up at her. “It is so lovely to finally meet you.”

“And you,” she smiled, unable to believe she had actually been nervous at all.

“The girls and Hudson have told me so much about you, and you sound like a lovely young lady. You’ve made quite the impression on my great granddaughters, I know they certainly love having you around and look up to you.”

“They are both amazing,” Mia said genuinely. “We’ve become fast friends.”

She leaned in and gave Mia another big hug and then she kissed Hudson on the cheek.

“I’m not going to linger,” she said as she was already heading for the main door. “I have a late night bingo game with some of the girls.”

Hudson laughed, she certainly seemed like quite the character.

“The girls are fast asleep and have been a joy,” she said. “Enjoy the rest of your evening.” She smiled knowingly at Hudson, and he laughed and went with her to make sure she was safely in her car.

Mia couldn’t help but laugh too. It felt like being a teenager all over again, even though she could tell that Hudson’s grandmother was doing her best not to quiz them and to get out of their hair as quickly as possible.

When he came back inside, she was waiting for him, leaning against the island, with a glass of red wine in her hand and one poured for him.

He came straight for her and wrapped his arms around her waist, pushing himself up against her and kissing her long and hard on the mouth.
